A LETTER TO THE AMERICAN PEOPLE FROM JON VOIGHT

It was one of those nights, not paying much attention, when I heard -- "and my next guest is Jon Voight!" Being a lifelong fan, I was glued and elated to have caught this special moment. Pajamas Media was also impressed enough to include it in their superb collection of great works.

A Letter to the American People
by Jon Voight, April 13, 2010
This call for the American people to join the tea party movement was first read by Jon Voight on Mike Huckabee's Fox News show of April 10, 2010. It is published here in Pajamas Media by agreement with Mr. Voight.

In one year the American people are witnessing the greatest lie that is cleverly orchestrated by President Obama and his whole administration. The lie is a potent aggression that feeds the needs of people who either have not educated themselves enough to understand the assault upon us all, or the very poor and needy who live to be taken care of. President Obama feeds these people poison, giving them the idea that they are entitled to take from the wealthier, who have lived and worked in a democracy that understands that capitalism is the only truth that keeps a nation healthy and fed.

Now, the lie goes very deep, and President Obama has been cleverly trained in the Alinsky method, and it would be very important that every American knows what that method is. It is a socialistic, Marxist teaching, and with it, little by little, he rapes this nation, taking down our defenses, making new language for the Islamic extremists.

The world who looked up to us, as a symbol of hope and prosperity, now wonders …“What will become of the entire world if America is losing its power?”

The American people who understand exactly what is taking place have come together in the thousands, vowing to try to stay together as a unit of love and freedom, for all men and women, from all walks of life, shivering to think that this once great nation will be a third world country.

This will be the first president to ever weaken the United States of America. President Obama uses his aggression and arrogance for his own agenda against the will of the American people, when he should be using his will and aggression against our enemies. Every loving American for peace, and truth, and the security of our nation, must come out and join the tea parties in their states. The opposition will continue their tactics: they will lie and plant their own bullies amongst us. Everyone must pay close attention to who stands next to them. We can weed out the liars and agitators.

Let us all stay in God’s light.
Let no man put us under.
We can and we will prevail.
God bless us all!

OBAMA IS LEADING US INTO SOCIALISM

If you have studied Ancient History, World History and American History, that gnawing feeling in the pit of your stomach about now should be a full blown ulcer. Although the signs were there for people to investigate, or ignore, Obama's dirty little secret has painfully reared its ugly head. Joe the Plumber was right, and the man is "soc--ial--ist--ic". Even the eloquent Congressman Maxine Waters admits it, and Obama's history and actions prove it.

The idea that America could become a Soviet 'Russia', or a Cuba, or a Venezuela is chilling. They are all products of redistribution of wealth, where there is no middle class, just the lower class and the uber rich -- à la Princess Pelosi. Brrrrrrr!

The TEA Party Movement needs to stay vigilant in its quest to stop this madness. Between the banks, auto industry, insurance, and (hopefully not) health care, governement has now taken over 51% of our country's private sector. Our Constitution never intended this, but was dedicated to just the opposite. It's time to hold government accountable.

Although I believe it's far more than socialism at this point, Dick Morris and Eileen McGann lay out this nightmare step by step, and how to stop it before the whole country falls into the trap of entitlements in excerpts from their excellent new book, "2010: Take Back America -- A Battle Plan"

Obama Is Leading Us Into Socialism
by Dick Morris and Eileen McGann, April 10, 2010

Americans embraced that image of a nation that welcomed those who wanted to work hard and grow and build their lives. But Barack Obama has replaced this call for self-reliance with an offer of security and serenity protected, subsidized, and sheltered by the government. Obama heralds his arrival on the battlefield of our politics not with a cacophony of confrontation, but with a lulling siren song designed to sedate and anesthetize us while he transplants our essence and replaces it with something else entirely. His sirens—the modern equivalent of those voices that tried to lure Ulysses onto the rocks and to his death in Homer’s Odyssey—sing the same soothing lullaby that has long since lulled Europe and Japan into a trance.

THE SIREN SINGS: Put aside your ambition. Don’t work so hard. Slow down and live a little. Don’t worry. Give the government your insecurities. Let us take care of them.

BUT REALITY ANSWERS: If we go back to being a nation of childlike dependents, relying on a parental government, we will become poorer and poorer, having to make do with less and less. Government cannot create jobs or wealth. It can only take from some and give it to others. And if people cannot keep their own money, they will stop working, innovating, taking the risks that are key to survival and growth—and we will all have less.

THE SIREN SINGS: You’re not alone in the world. You have your community to surround you and a safety net below you. We have anticipated all the vagaries of life, all of its uncertainties, and have made provision for them.

BUT REALITY ANSWERS: It’s the fear of failure, as much as the dream of success, that motivates us all to work hard, compete, and succeed. If life holds no perils, there’s little to get us out of bed in the morning. While we must protect those who cannot help themselves, for most of us it’s the fear of bad outcomes—as much as the lure of reward—that impels our labor.

THE SIREN SINGS: Give up some of your sovereignty and independence. You won’t need it anymore. Your leaders will show you what to do. You must surrender what you have to the community. We are all in this together. We are a unit, an entity. We will share the sacrifice, take care of each other, and let our government point the way.

BUT REALITY ANSWERS: Government does almost everything worse than private business. The U.S. Postal Service is a joke compared to FedEx and UPS. The Veterans Administration hospitals are a disgrace to the men and women who have served us. Our government cannot control our borders. It can’t even distribute flu shots to those who need them. Private and church schools educate better, for less money, than public educational institutions do. State universities are drowning in their own bureaucracy. And the list goes on. Only in the military, police, and firefighting services—with their extraordinary standards of martial discipline, self-sacrifice, unit cohesion and morale—does the public sector excel.

THE SIREN SINGS: Abandon the delusions of your religious faith. They are old, for a different time. You don’t need them anymore. Secular humanism has made them unnecessary. Turn away from the spurious rituals and the false security they offer. Embrace the real security of a committed community led by enlightened experts.

BUT REALITY ANSWERS: We each have a God-sized hole in our hearts and souls. Without faith, some people turn to addiction; others lose themselves in narcissism. Some become workaholics, others compulsive gamblers, and still others status-seekers who make the acquisition of material goods their own yardstick in life. Where religion falters, self-involvement takes the place of child-rearing, and birth rates drop. Values decline—and an increase in crime, sexually transmitted disease, and suicide are the result.

THE SIREN SINGS: You don’t really need your democracy anymore. Let us experts run things. We know better than you what you need and we have the knowledge to get it for you. Turn away from the cantankerous politics of shrill debate. Trust those who act with benign knowledge of what is best for you.

BUT REALITY ANSWERS: The experts covet power, and power corrupts them as easily as it does anyone else. Bureaucracies become obsessed with self-perpetuation and soon lose sight of the populations they are supposed to serve. They develop cozy relationships with the power brokers in big companies to form a consortium of business and government to control our lives. It is only through democracy that we can fight their tyranny.

FORMATION OF 'NATIONAL TEA PARTY FEDERATION' ANNOUNCED

As one of the original TEA Party members, it has been thrilling to see so many millions of Americans stand up and let their voices be heard -- a first for most, frightening for some, and duty-bound for all. Our inspiration comes from a solid foundation in our heritage, the knowledge of how this great nation came to be and for which it stands. For me personally, my Grandfather (the creator of our patriotic Uncle Sam) gave me the courage to finally speak out. If he could do it so eloquently, how could I not at least try, when our country was diabolically being destroyed?

Hundreds of TEA Party groups have formed across this great nation, all with one purpose -- to save this country from tyranny. The success speaks for itself. There is an all out attack on the TEA Party movement, and if we are inconsequential, why would they care?

After a successful year, we have a new group, The National Tea Party Federation, with the purpose of protecting us from these assaults. While I believe this new "Federation" should be closely vetted, we are up against a very powerful machine. The only way we can succeed in our quest, is to be just as powerful.

This has been an incredible journey, and we have made history. In order to take back our country, we need to win in Nov-2010 firstly, and campaign vigorously for 2012. It may take a "coming together" -- pool all our resources in order to be successful against this power hungry and powerful regime. This new "Federation" may be a good way to focus and unite, and be an equally powerful machine. There are millions of good people out there with the same goal, and we are getting stronger by the day.

Many Tea Party groups are signing on, so the best thing is for tea partiers to do our due diligence, research, talk amongst each other, and keep on with our quest. Here is an informative piece about the new NTPF in FOX Business:

Formation Of 'National Tea Party Federation' Announced
from Fox Business, April 8, 2010

MINNEAPOLIS, April 8, 2010 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ ----A broad coalition of national and regional Tea Party groups have announced the formation of the National Tea Party Federation (NTPF). •Fiscal Responsibility
•Constitutionally Limited Government
•Free Markets

The federation includes key organizations and leadership and is committed to changing the dynamics of communicating clearly to its membership while supporting the aforementioned principles. The approach will allow for clarity of message, rapid response to media misinformation while continuing to build the brand equity of the Tea Party movement. Jamie Radtke, Chairman of the Richmond Tea Party stated, "The National Tea Party Federation is based upon successful models deployed over the past year. These include actions like our own efforts in Virginia. We understand the importance of standing together while enhancing the ability to frame the discussion and realize gains amongst this approach to collaboration."

The federation was formed in response to a concerted effort of misinformation propagated by the mainstream media. The federation will act as a "rapid response" team to mainstream media misinformation.

The talent, experience and results orientation of the National Tea Party Federation is unprecedented in the current political environment."

Darla Dewald of ResistNet also commented, "The power of this federation is extraordinary. The leadership and advisors who have chosen to affiliate within the National Tea Party Federation are key activists with the capability to deliver a clear message while also working with their membership to achieve change."

Maggie Hunt of the Santee East County Tea Party stated, "This federation, much like the United States itself, is a combination of large Tea Party organizations and smaller local groups. We are so pleased to play our part and to participate in this important effort."

Dozens of other Tea Party leadership and affiliates have been invited into the National Tea Party Federation and are working through their review processes. The NTPF is an open federation and welcomes all Tea Party groups and affiliates who are committed to the core principles of fiscal responsibility, constitutionally limited government and free markets.

WHY THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY CLINGS TO RACISM

Possibly the best way to respond to the over-used, over-played cry of racist is to laugh it off, but a more appropriate response would be "Grow Up!!" As has been proven time after time, liberals live in the Universe of Lies, but this is going to be played like we have never seen before in history in the coming months before the November 2010 elections. It's their only hole card, and why Pelosi marched through the crowd of Tea Party patriots, in the hopes of inciting an incident. When one did not happen, they invented a few, because none of their accusations have been proven.

One important comment made by Chris Matthews after the election, and often overlooked, is "I'm going to do everything that I can to make this thing work, this new presidency work..." This is extremely poignant, because it set the stage for the "Slobbering Love Affair" the media has showered this administration with, and is complicit in the downturn of our country. We all know the double standard that exists with the media, but this goes beyond the pale, especially when it comes to accurately reporting racism.

For most conservatives, racism is not a part of their DNA, and is utterly unacceptable. We want all people to be happy, to be successful, and to enjoy the fruits of their labor. We are generous and giving, without the need of prompting. During the next few months, the left will do everything in their power to destroy conservatives, so cool heads should prevail. The objective is to get our country back on track by voting the radicals out, and replacing them with true conservatives -- not moderate watered down RINOs.

Or, as Ronald Reagan said "... one of these days you and I are going to spend our sunset years telling our children and our children's children what it once was like in America when men were free.”

Roger Simon write an interesting piece about this in Pajamas Media, precisely laying out the hypocrisy:

Why the Democratic Party Clings to Racism
by Roger L. Simon, April 7, 2010

The continued nostalgia for racism on the part of the Democratic Party never ceases to amaze me. Last week, when Rep. Steve Cohen (D-TN) allowed as how the Tea Party Movement was similar to the KKK, my eyes rolled so far back in my head I almost had to clone a new cranium. Jewish boy to Jewish boy, Steve, that’s one of the dumbest things I’ve ever heard one of our co-religionists say in public. If anything, the Tea Partyers are the antithesis of racist – a collection of wild, freedom-loving quasi-libertarians who could care less about anyone’s color or background, far less than a former Ivy League snob like me. (PERSONAL NOTE: I was a civil rights worker in the South during the Sixties and would stay miles, I hope, from any movement that smacked of racism.)

Nevertheless, self-described liberals, progressives and what-not persist in telling us the Tea Party Movement is racist, despite the fact they have yet to produce an iota of concrete evidence to prove this absurd point. Well, okay, the Tea Party currently polls at 48 percent of the populace to Obama’s 44, so there’s bound to be a racist or two in there somewhere, just as there would be in any group that large, but I haven’t met them.

So what’s the deal? Why is the Democratic Party clinging to racism like a wall full of barnacles on the hull of a rusted ship? The most popular explanation is that that is their lever on political power. With 99 percent of African-Americans and 77 percent of Jewish-Americans (excuse the reactionary hyphens), not to mention a huge percentage of Hispanic-Americans, voting their way, what’s not to like? Keep America divided according to race and keep getting elected.

Another argument is that there is a form of projection going on (the Dems are the real racists projecting their true feelings on Republicans, conservatives, libertarians, etc.), but I don’t really buy that. Racism is pretty unpopular in our culture for good reason and I don’t think anyone’s projecting here. It’s an even more desperate wish that is being fulfilled.

Putting it bluntly, the Democratic Party clings to racism because they are s–t out of ideas. They have nothing else to say. At this point, almost everyone acknowledges liberal policies don’t work economically and the Dems have little they can do but call names. This is even more true of socialism, a system which has consistently shown itself to be the initial ramp on an inexorable glide path to totalitarianism. Progressivism, liberalism, call it what you will, has completely lost its appeal to the majority of Americans on an ideological level. So what’s a poor Dem to do? Wave the bloody shirt. Cry racism!

Often this takes the form of self-hypnosis. These people have to be racist, they have to be wrong (if you can’t argue ideas with them). Poor Steve Cohen is a perfect example of this, as are numerous members of our media. For this group, reification has set in. They can no longer look objectively at what is in front of them because they themselves have been turned into objects with eternally frozen pre-conditioned responses. Steve Cohen and these media types are not substantially different from Internet trolls, raging inchoately at something that offends them without taking the time to understand what they are attacking. Actually treating Tea Partyers as serious American citizens with ideas would threaten personality disintegration for many of these people. They are just incapable of opening their minds because their psyches might fall apart.

A great contribution the Tea Party Movement could make – perhaps its greatest contribution – would be to truly “smash racism,” as we used to say in the Sixties. Nowadays, hyphenated racial groups do the opposite. They have become inherently reactionary, seeking to divide us as Americans for their own advantage. That preserves racism in perpetuity, just as the American people themselves are fed up with it and long since ready to move on. In effect, the Democratic Party has inadvertently turned itself into the party of racism by depending upon these vested interests to maintain power. The Tea Party Movement could overturn this. That would be truly revolutionary.

With Health Bill, Obama Has Sown the Seeds of a Budget Crisis

We are in a serious financial crisis. Obama seems to feel he is playing with Monopoly money, but he is now in a danger zone of economic bankruptcy. He either does not have a clue about economics, or he is deliberate in his destruction. Why this man was never vetted is the mystery of the decade. The public is not aware of his academic career, or the subjects he took, or the papers he wrote, much less his grades. I would be curious to see his college writings, and his theses, irrespective of his "books".

As Mr. Samuelson reports, a "bubget crisis" is not some accounting excercise. Many Americans have faced the same situation of using too much credit and not enough income to pay it off. It's not pretty, and extremely difficult to get out from under. But, you didn't get out from under this crisis by charging more on the creditcard. Magnify that by a ba-zillion, and this is what America is facing. Omaba is taking us in the direction of financial suicide, and the choice is either lack of knowledge, or by design as in the Cloward-Piven Strategy.

His power must be weakened, and the November elections can't get here fast enough. Congressman Paul Ryan passed along a brilliant piece by Robert Samuelson in today's Washington Post on our imminent budget crisis, and the reckless health care overhaul:

With Health Bill, Obama Has Sown the Seeds of a Budget Crisis
by Robert J. Samuelson, March 29, 2010

When historians recount the momentous events of recent weeks, they will note a curious coincidence. On March 15, Moody's Investors Service -- the bond rating agency -- published a paper warning that the exploding U.S. government debt could cause a downgrade of Treasury bonds. Just six days later, the House of Representatives passed President Obama's health-care legislation costing $900 billion or so over a decade and worsening an already-bleak budget outlook.

Should the United States someday suffer a budget crisis, it will be hard not to conclude that Obama and his allies sowed the seeds, because they ignored conspicuous warnings. A further irony will not escape historians. For two years, Obama and members of Congress have angrily blamed the shortsightedness and selfishness of bankers and rating agencies for causing the recent financial crisis. The president and his supporters, historians will note, were equally shortsighted and self-centered -- though their quest was for political glory, not financial gain.

Let's be clear. A "budget crisis" is not some minor accounting exercise. It's a wrenching political, social and economic upheaval. Large deficits and rising debt -- the accumulation of past deficits -- spook investors, leading to higher interest rates on government loans. The higher rates expand the budget deficit and further unnerve investors. To reverse this calamitous cycle, the government has to cut spending deeply or raise taxes sharply. Lower spending and higher taxes in turn depress the economy and lead to higher unemployment. Not pretty.

Greece is experiencing such a crisis. Until recently, conventional wisdom held that only developing countries -- managed ineptly -- were candidates for true budget crises. No more. Most wealthy societies with aging populations, including the United States, face big gaps between their spending promises and their tax bases. No one in Congress could be unaware of this.

Two weeks before the House vote, the Congressional Budget Office released its estimate of Obama's budget, including its health-care program. From 2011 to 2020, the cumulative deficit is almost $10 trillion. Adding 2009 and 2010, the total rises to $12.7 trillion. In 2020, the projected annual deficit is $1.25 trillion, equal to 5.6 percent of the economy (gross domestic product). That assumes economic recovery, with unemployment at 5 percent. Spending is almost 30 percent higher than taxes. Total debt held by the public rises from 40 percent of GDP in 2008 to 90 percent in 2020, close to its post-World War II peak.

To criticisms, Obama supporters make two arguments. First, the CBO says the plan reduces the deficit by $143 billion over a decade. Second, the legislation contains measures (an expert panel to curb Medicare spending, emphasis on "comparative effectiveness research") to control health spending. These rejoinders are self-serving and unconvincing.

Suppose the CBO estimate is correct. So? The $143 billion saving is about 1 percent of the projected $12.7 trillion deficit from 2009 to 2020. If the administration has $1 trillion or so of spending cuts and tax increases over a decade, all these monies should first cover existing deficits -- not finance new spending. Obama's behavior resembles a highly indebted family's taking an expensive round-the-world trip because it claims to have found ways to pay for it. It's self-indulgent and reckless

But the CBO estimate is misleading, because it must embody the law's many unrealistic assumptions and gimmicks. Benefits are phased in "so that the first 10 years of [higher] revenue would be used to pay for only six years of spending" increases, a former CBO director, Douglas Holtz-Eakin, wrote in the New York Times on March 20. Holtz-Eakin also noted the $70 billion of premiums for a new program of long-term care that reduce present deficits but will be paid out in benefits later. Then there's the "doc fix" -- higher Medicare reimbursements under separate legislation that would cost about $200 billion over a decade.

Proposals to control health spending face restrictions that virtually ensure failure. Consider the "Independent Payment Advisory Board" aimed at Medicare. "The Board is prohibited from submitting proposals that would ration care, increase revenues or change benefits, eligibility or Medicare beneficiary cost sharing," says a summary by the Henry J. Kaiser Family Foundation. What's left? Similarly, findings from "comparative effectiveness research" -- intended to identify ineffective care -- "may not be construed as mandates, guidelines or recommendations for payment, coverage or treatment." What's the point then?

So Obama is flirting with a future budget crisis. Moody's emphasizes two warning signs: rising debt and loss of confidence that government will deal with it. Obama fulfills both. The parallels with the recent financial crisis are striking. Bankers and rating agencies engaged in wishful thinking to rationalize self-interest. Obama does the same. No one can tell when or whether a crisis will come. There is no magic tipping point. But Obama is raising the chances.

WHY IS CNN LOSING AUDIENCE? LIES AND DECEPTION COME TO MIND

In case State-run CNN wonders why they are losing their audience, a picture speaks a thousand words. Their deception and biased reporting has them in last place where they belong. CNN reported "dozens" attended the Searchlight, NV Tea Party Rally where Sarah Palin spoke.

Newsbusters reported on the CNN coverage by Fredericka Whitfield:

"Hundreds of people, at least dozens of people - we haven't gotten a count of how many people turned out there. We heard Sarah Palin talk about everything about the campaign, to unseat Sen. Reid to what she calls ObamaCare, on the heels of that health care vote and even talking about her definition of her love of America."

Pictures and story reported by Jim Hoft of Gateway Pundit.

This photo was taken at 1:35 p.m. More than an hour and a half after the rally started people were lining the highway trying to get in.

MY OWN "EARTH HOUR"

In the face of this Global Warming farce, don't forget to turn all your lights ON tonight at 8:30, as we did last year. Think where we were one year ago tonight -- still pretty new to what was about to happen. Before all the TEA Party rallys, before all the townhalls, before the 912 March on DC, and before witnessing the corruption going on behind closed doors in our government. Boy, are we a different country today.

We are a country more divided than we have been in decades, a country on the brink of dictatorial takeover and financial ruin, but a country more united in bringing her back to its founding roots. God Bless America

Doug Powers has his own "Earth Hour" on Michelle Malkin:

My Own Earth Hour
by Doug Powers, March 27, 2010

Tonight at 8:30 p.m. EDT, my house is going to be lit up brighter than Perth, Australia when John Glenn flew over in Friendship 7. Here’s why…

Another “Earth Hour” is upon us. This is the night we’re supposed to turn off all our lights in solidarity with… darkness, or something. It’s also symbolic of a desire to “take action on global climate change.”

I tend to get a little offended at these kinds of things. For one, in my house, we celebrate Earth Hour every day. We don’t leave lights on in rooms that nobody is in. We keep the thermostat fairly low (mostly because I’m usually too hot). We carpool when possible. We don’t waste gas. We pick up trash alongside the road when we’re walking. We volunteer to clean up the riverwalk, and we plant trees because we like trees — not because we’ve fooled ourselves into believing that planting trees is helping make Streisand’s environmentally-unfriendly concert tours carbon-neutral.

As such, I tend to get a little put off when being preached to by fat cats who swim in their own heated pools, travel in private jets, heat mansions they’re not even living in for months at a time and ride in limo caravans to speeches to tell the rest of us how our Chevy Cobalts, lawn mowers, hamburgers and light bulbs are killing the planet.
